You've done a great job with her so far but it's always nice to get some outside advice and see how they do when they're tested a little. She looks beautiful in the photos. So happy for you!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13790278181159401158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647406862592675556.post-74314152965384934812010-10-18T18:29:53.106-06:002010-10-18T18:29:53.106-06:00You guys look really good together :) She sounds l...You guys look really good together :) She sounds like a great jumper!!Ruthhttp://www.justagirlandherhorse.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647406862592675556.post-70616819462956580382010-10-18T16:48:56.944-06:002010-10-18T16:48:56.944-06:00You guys are looking great together...and yes, tho...You guys are looking great together...and yes, those hands need to learn to release over the fence as I can see you starting to do in these pics.

Izzy seems to like jumping and that will make all the difference down the line. After a while, you will learn to trust her and then you will make a super team over fences!

Nicely done.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10029423500476995817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647406862592675556.post-2971471214574654972010-10-18T15:13:13.908-06:002010-10-18T15:13:13.908-06:00Less is more! We spent a lot more time on the quality of the canter and straightness for sure.SprinklerBandithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11381922004203479379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647406862592675556.post-56678790926168423342010-10-18T12:01:27.186-06:002010-10-18T12:01:27.186-06:00Congrats! YES, McLain Wa...Congrats! You guys look great. :-)

YES, McLain Ward has incredible equitation -- he sits so pretty and rides a Grand Prix course looking like he's riding an eq round. Same with Beezie Madden -- that lady is just tight as a tick in the saddle, and her leg does not move a millimeter, even over gigantic fences. Those two are the absolute best examples of correct riding that I have ever seen.

Like Nicku said, you might want to focus less on finding the perfect distance and more on just improving your canter (and your straightness). Jimmy Wofford writes about this a lot -- he wants you to teach the horse to find his own distance instead of always relying on you to find it for him. This is a new concept for me (coming from hunter/jumper land!) but it makes a lot of sense, especially for an eventer.Frizzlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03084225669041286128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647406862592675556.post-80233004398737362092010-10-18T10:00:39.138-06:002010-10-18T10:00:39.138-06:00GREAt PHOTOS! You guys look great! My trainer this ...AWESOME!!! You guys look great! My trainer this weekend reminded me to ride my canter, not ride the fence. If you focus on the quality of canter all the way to the base of the fence and just stay quiet, the jumping part usually works itself out perfectly every time :)Nicku Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07006911603623063201noreply@blogger.com
