Equestrian Christmas List

It's that time of year--I get absolutely flooded with emails and catalogs from equine companies wanting me to purchase more horse stuff. Unfortunately, my family does not believe in buying horsey anything for me and I'm spending my money getting gifts for other people (and buying feed. Next time, I'll get native ponies. TBs eat so much!)

If I was going Christmas shopping for myself with an unlimited budget (hey, that whole sentence is unrealistic), here's what I'd be getting:

IT'S SO SHINY I COULD DIE!!!!
One K Helmet Defender with Bling - list price $399.00
Ok, I haven't actually tried these on yet. That said, my local tack store does carry them and the cheaper models are worth looking in to. They're a new look with all the same high tech goodies and I just want to try them. As long as it's a hypothetical Christmas list, I want the sparkles. ALL THE SPARKLES.

I'd be the coolest at everything
Dublin Pinnacle Boots - list price $199.00
I have loved these boots for like two years. I really, really want them and would wear them all the time. That said, there isn't a parallel universe in which I can see myself paying $200 for muck boots. Not even really cute muck boots that I could wear around town or ride in. Still. A girl can dream.

So classy
Kerrit's Coach's Coat - list price $199.00
I love coats. Not only would any color of this coat look awesome with my above helmet and boots, but all I'd be so warm and dry and chic and layered. I've never owned a long coat like this, but I'm sure it would make me look all svelte and model-y.

Because I love leather
Higher Standards Leather care - list price ~$15-20
I have wanted this stuff since I first heard about it. I've entered two different contests to win it, but no luck. My money has gone other places the past couple months, but maybe I'll be able to snag some early next year. Regardless, it sounds glorious and I want it all.

To fit a tiny Courage face
Ovation Fancy Stitched Wide Noseband Bridle - list price $164.95
I'm still flirting with my hunter dreams for Courage. This would get us going on the local circuit. If we wanted to go to A shows, I'm pretty sure I'd need an Arc De Triumph, but until then the Ovation would do nicely. I'd probably want a matching standing martingale, too.

Might help if I looked like her
Under Armor base layer top and bottom - list price $49.99 a piece
I hate being cold and something like this would be amazing for the cold winter months. I could use it for running and riding and be slightly less cold than I am usually.

Ogilvy Equestrian half pad - list price $239.00
I just want one.

Who wouldn't?

All the pretty things. I know I have lots to be thankful for and my life is plenty full without all the coolest and nicest things, but it's fun to look. What's on your dream wishlist this Christmas?

  1. My friend actually just bought me an under armour base layer shirt for Christmas and I can't wait to try it :)

I love your choices - the boots are amazing.

  2. Love those boots! And the UA stuff is TOTALLY worth the $. It's so warm that you'll melt if you put it on and don't leave the house immediately. Ask for it for Christmas anyway and tell your fam it's not horse stuff, but is for... um... cross-country skiing?

  3. I have a lot of B.O.T. stuff on my wishlist as well as a new show coat that might have a chance to actually, you know, fit me.

I want some of the Higher Standards soap too!

  4. I see those boots everywhere and am super jealous!! They look so cozy.

I'm asking for a decent leather halter complete with nameplate! Pony couldn't be trusted not to destroy one until now.

  5. I thought the One Ks fit weird. Love the bling hated the fit. Cute trench coat!

  6. A deep cycle battery for fence charger. Jump cups. Tractor tires. 4x4's. 12 free hours with an electrician.

ROFL -- I have riding stuffs, need FARM STUFFZ!!!

PS, have messed with the Oglivy's, love my Ecogold half pad a lot more and it is tough and WORKS.

  7. I was just telling my dad I want a pair of muck boots made for riding...but I wasn't interested in spending $200 on them. :) And yes, Roz eats a lot too! How's Cuna doing in his new boots!?

  8. What an amazing list! I'm with you on the boots, although I wouldn't muck in them. I'd wear them to events when we're shipping in so I could match everyone else. But you know, we can still kick butt even if we don't look trendy and I wear half-chaps and paddock boots as casual wear, right?

    1. Hell, half chaps and paddock boots are my dressy wear. :-p

  9. I have seen that Kerrit's coat on sale at one of the endurance tack vendors. Maybe Action Rider or Riding Warehouse?

The Higher Standards soap is _super_ nice. I never thought anything would compare to my beloved Kirk's Castille, but a friend loaned me some (to clean her saddles -- ha!) and I was impressed enough to add it to my own wishlist.

  10. If you told the fam that the Under Armor stuff is for hunting or fishing, they might get on board with at least that item :)

  11. I splurged and bought myself some of the Higher Standards saddle soap. I haven't tried it yet, cause I'm lazy. But its sitting on my counter and I smell it often :).

  12. I work at a tack shop on the weekends, I hate to break it to you, the coach's coat is not particularly attractive.

    1. You just saved me $200 hypothetical dollars. Truth is, even if it were the best coat in the world, I wouldn't look like a supermodel wearing it. So it goes. ;)

  13. Pretty much all my exciting small things I was kind of considering getting Miles for Christmas (because Ponies need presents to open too!) went out the door when I realized I needed a new saddle. Boo!!

  14. You'd be fine at the A shows with that bridle as long as it was clean and well fitting :)

  15. OneK helmets are da bomb. I have the suede-y all black one that I bought a year or so ago during the June Helmet Awareness sales-so just wait for that and get it at 20% off! It does fit a more round oval type head though, so definitely try before you buy. But its the lightest, most comfortable helmet ever. And perfectly acceptable for any kind of show!

  16. Dublin boots. Omg. I luff them! My mother generously shelled out for them two years ago, and I wear them almost every day in the winter. Rarely do they go to the barn, though. They are a bitch to clean when you're wading through knee high mud every day. But, they are super warm and waterproof and comfortable!

  17. Hubby keeps asking what I want for Christmas - I keep saying a custom saddle or trailer.. he doesn't like those answers :)

  18. Ok gals! I have those exact muck boots and would say they are totally worth it! They're nimble enough to actually ride in too. I've had them 3 years now and love them. Would totally buy another pair down the road. Cute, tough, comfortable.

  19. The Dublin boots have been on my wish list, literally and figuratively, for two years now. I would totally wear them to work!!

  20. Its dangerous that you actually read those emails and catalogs! I just let mine sit in a corner...

  21. You can get Ogilvys for about $185...that $239 is way overpriced!
