Thanks Everyone!

It's my last post of the year, and I really feel like you guys deserve the credit for this one. As an adult re-rider on a limited budget in a non-english-riding area of the country, my options are not what they could be, shall we say. Nevertheless, my readers have really stepped up to the plate. Whether it was counseling me about saddle options, helping out with ground work, making supplement recommendations, giving me feedback on boarding facilities, or just generally being encouraging, I am so thankful I get to interact with all of you. The blogging community really is pretty cool.

I've been really discouraged the past week or so--Izzy and I aren't really accomplishing anything and I felt like we've been stuck in that mode all year. Last night, I read through most of my blogs from this year and realized how far we've come. At this time last year, Izzy and I were -barely- w/t/c and we were venturing inside the doom bubble. Now, she's a solid training level horse and a joy to ride.

So, thanks for your comments of counsel and encouragement and for blogging about your own activities, which inspires me to keep on going, even when the high for today is 17... Happy New Year!!

Izzy and I approaching the dip of death while XC schooling in May. We're off to the New Year!

  4. Very nice post- I feel exactly the same way. I have found the same encouragement, the same "community" and it really is uplifting when we feel crappy about our horses or even our personal life. All these people are so wonderful :)

  5. i feel that way too! It helps when I get in a slump and the world is covered in snow, and I can't work to see some of my blog friends feel the same way while some others are having the time of their lives! It reminds me that nothing is permanent. You guys have come so far. You should feel a sense of accomplishment and contentment for that!

  6. Since I've started reading your blog, you and Izzy have come a LONG way! I remember posts where she was rearing up, didn't want to go forward, etc. Now, you guys are jumping, cross-country schooling, going on trail rides -- I'd say that's some major progress!
I, too, love our little community of horse bloggers! It's so nice to connect with other horse peeps and share eachother's stories.

  7. I know exactly what you mean, and it's why I started a blog-I can't journal, but I want something to tell me what progress we're making or not making. The great people out there in bloggy land I've been lucky enough to read and get to know (like you) have been such a nice surprise and added bonus.
Happy New Year to you and Izzy!

  9. Isn't it great to have a blog that you can go back to and remember old lessons that you had forgotten? I love reading about all the lessons you and Izzy have journeyed through--I even like the posts about lessons that didn't go so well, only because it's nice to know I am not alone in having struggles!
Happy New Year! I hope your 2011 is better than ever

  10. I'd say you and Izzy are progressing at a good, sensible pace--the kind that ends up with a well trained, complete horse. She's a beauty and you have done really well with her.

Here's to an even more successful 2011 with a few competitions under your belt to make you smile even more. Happy New Year!
