Weekends

The governor has declared a state of disaster here because of the massive amount of wildfires all around us. Where I live isn't threatened at all, but we've become a smoke repository for the rest of the state as far as I can tall.

I went for a trail ride yesterday with a friend and we walked the whole time because the air was so smokey that none of us wanted to breathe hard.

That haze behind me? Smoke.

It's super dry right now. The fires aren't projected to be contained until October when the rain starts up.

  1. Oh no! Fires are the worst--thankfully, we don't have any here now because it's monsoon season, but when the Everglades are on fire there is now way in *hell* I would be riding. You and your red boy must have lungs of steel!

  2. I know how that feels... We have wildfires from time to time up in the panhandle. My first spring I had to have a friend some trailer Don out of a mandatory evacuation zone with the fires blazing about 5 miles away from us.

  7. Glad you are OK, but that smoke must be dreadful. Take care and try not to breathe too much of it.
