I watched people ride beautiful horses.
Looked at the fancy ribbons.
Enjoyed the flow of well-ridden tests.
And I'd be lying if I said I wanted to do that right now.
Honestly, just being there made me nauseous.

There's no pressure. It doesn't matter if we accomplish something today or tomorrow or next year or ten years from now.

DeleteThe equestrians I admire the most are those who know what they want to do with their horse(s) and who wholeheartedly pursue that. Whether it's enjoying hand grazing, trail riding, lessons or showing makes no difference to me -- I just love seeing people enjoying their horses <3 <3 <3

Deletehonestly the vast majority of riders i know don't compete. and of those who do, most only do one or two small local (or home barn) things a year. it's easy in the blogosphere to get this amplified idea that the only meaningful thing to do with horses is compete.... but that's definitely not the case in the real world. i'm glad you're focusing instead on enjoying horses on your terms.

DeleteAll in due time. She's a young horse and there's no reason to push her and blow her mind. You guys have plenty of years ahead of you to go out and show- or not. Whatever will be, will be. Enjoy it.
