It's also been winter. I've been taking all excuses to not be active and then I've been trying to offset overwhelming stress with food.
As you can imagine, I am not happy with who I am right now.
Nothing will change overnight, but I'm taking steps to get to where I want to be. I went for a run this morning, which puts me at over 10 for the year. It doesn't sound like much, but I don't think I ran that many times in all of 2013. I'm finding ways to eat more vegetables and less processed food.
And hopefully, I'll have the first real ride of 2014 today.
Starting point |
It's a new year. I'm focusing on the little bay horse who needs me to be fit and strong to give him the best ride possible for all our upcoming adventures.
No more excuses. I'm laying down the miles, even when I don't feel like it and can only sort of breathe.
Yeah goals...and slightly healthier girls night food options!
ReplyDeleteI'll send you a foot or two of our snow and you can tromp around through it. Trust me, you'll never feel the need to run again. You'll just fall down and die after a mile walk.
ReplyDeleteHey, I was wondering if you and Courage would like to be featured in my Stories from off the Track post, a series on my blog for OTTB and their owners. If you are interested, please email me at paola.pedranti@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteAh yes, old nemesis "exercise"...we meet again.
ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for you! Other suggestions--cut out sugar. That means no sodas or other sweetened drinks. I also pretty much cut out bread, or at least limited it. Eat a good breakfast. I also cut out milk products for the most part, but that's because I have a lactose intolerance issue. Don't deprive yourself to try to lose weight. You will need to eat when you are hungry. Otherwise, cravings will get you in trouble.
ReplyDeleteRunning is great, but you can walk too. I am lucky enough to have swimming available all year long, but I've been very lax about going to the pool in these cold temperatures.
I've lost over 20 pounds so far. Most of the time the good average is about a pound a week if you want to keep the weight off. Crash and fad diets don't hold as well as a slow, healthy weight loss.
Good luck. I'll be cheering you on!
You can do it. I'm making this my focus this year, but right now I'm pretty much only concentrating things on the diet side because part of the reason I hate working out so much is bc of how heavy I am.
ReplyDeleteRight there with ya girl - you are NOT alone!
ReplyDeleteKeep it up! I am taking a swim class, but looking for something a little more intense to get in shape/lose weight. I like the idea of classes (especially with a friend) because it hold me more accountable.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, the gym sucks. You seem like a very determined person, so I'm sure you can do it! Just being able to ride again will help a lot. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGet it girl :)
ReplyDeleteSomething we all need to work on... maybe we need a 'fit to ride' blogger support group?
ReplyDeleteI would be in! :-)
DeleteGood for you! I also struggle with exercising indoors but with all the rain here... well I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of the opposite. I much prefer running on the treadmill when I can watch some t.v. or read while I run. I like having the numbers right in my face where I can look and see how far I've run and how far to go, etc.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your plan!
I have had ZERO motivation this winter. I've totally been struggling. All I want to do is eat, sleep, and drink wine!
ReplyDeleteYou're gunna look foxy in that bridesmaid dress...
ReplyDelete*bighug* We could all do with getting fitter, or rather I could! I should really only speak for myself...
ReplyDeleteSame here...the hardest thing for me is food...I have no will power. I get a good work out doing the farm thing, but sadly %75 of weight loss is attributed to diet. You are off to a good start - good luck.
