BACK IN BUSINESS

the best at sparkles and bedroom hair
Naturally, our first ride back after about a week off included a 15 degree temp drop in the hour between leaving work and getting to the barn and an epic-level windstorm, but OMG GUYS MY HORSE CAN TURN RIGHT AGAIN.

In fact, he was perfectly reasonable. We did lots of halt/backing interspersed with long and low trotting, as per our aftercare instructions. Courage was back to his lovely self with nary a sideways gallop in sight.

It really is the little things, isn't it?

  1. Turning right is important. Unless you're a racehorse, then carry on.

  3. I request a full recap of the bodywork session! How did C-man lose the ability to turn right and how was it reclaimed? Inquiring minds want to know!

Glad you have your boy back!

  5. I have to say that Riley had major issues with tracking right (and still protests here and there). We struggled for a really long time with his right lead canter and found that the best way to unlock it was by walk-canter transitions that were implemented by 3-4 steps of leg yielding on and off and back on the rail and then asking. Working him in the Pessoa really allowed him to figure out and find his balance and straightness (which was a huge part of the issue tracking right) and allowed him to fight less under saddle. He still tries to default by swinging his haunches in, but at least he's starting to respect my inside leg!

  7. Sounds like he had a very excellent massage. Hooray ambiturner! Now he should be more inclined to acquiesce! =P

  9. Woohoo - this reminds me i need to try to unearth the elusive money tree so i can call the bodyworker for Kika & Nancy. When done by someone known and trusted i really don't think it ever does any harm...
