Where Izzy Learns a New Trick

It hasn't rained in like 4 days... I think that's a record for 2010 so far here. Saturday, my friends came out to ride. We only had two treeless saddles for the three of us, so we all went bareback. It was quite fun, until the neighbors started flying around a remote-control plane. Even that was ok, until the neighborhood dogs went nuts barking at it. Miss Izzy has a thing about dogs, so she cantered sideways all the way across the arena.

It was pretty hilarious and not that hard to ride. I wonder if I can replicate that move at a show... I'm thinking not.

I'm gambling that despite the current outside temperature of 20f, the clear skies mean that it will be warm enough to ride outside in the afternoon today. Cross your fingers for me.

  1. Ya know, I've been kicking around the idea of riding Salem bareback for a while. He's such a greenie that I haven't yet...but you've given me some inspiration. :-)

  2. Ooh, I'm very impressed! Canter half pass isn't called for until 3rd level, Izzy's ahead of the game. ;-)

I love riding bareback in the winter, it's so much warmer. It's great for your position and seat, too. Hope you get out for a ride this afternoon *fingers crossed*

  3. I used to ride bareback all the time. Tried it a month or so ago and had far too much trouble getting on my horse to do it again. I don't know how I would mount the big guy....I'm getting too old for that kind of stuff, I fear.

Glad you had some fun in between the raindrops. Hope you got that next ride in as planned.
